On May 1, the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders launched a series of public education activities themed “Remember History, Embrace Peace”. In the morning, Yu Huiru, daughter of Nanjing Massacre historical memory inheritor and survivor Yu Changxiang, gave a presentation in the Roadshow Area of the Historical Materials Exhibit Hall. Through family stories and an interactive interview, she helped visitors gain a deeper understanding of historical truth. “I have a responsibility to tell my father’s story and help more people remember history and cherish peace,” she said. Zhang Yu, a visitor from Liaoning Province, commented that the presentation enabled people to truly appreciate the suffering endured during the war and to treasure the peace they enjoy today.

On the same day, representatives of the Memorial Hall’s Zijin Cao volunteers recited excerpts from The Diaries of John Rabe and Terror in Minnie Vautrin's Nanjing: Diaries and Correspondence, as well as poems, in the visitor lounge. They also performed the sign-language dance As You Wish (《如愿》) and distributed cultural and creative postcards to visitors. Liu Jiying and Yang Jiezhen, international students from Myanmar studying at Southeast University, participated in the reading session as volunteers for the first time. “This history belongs to all humanity,” said Liu. Yang quoted the elderly Li Xiuying: “Remember history, but do not remember hatred,” expressing her reflections on the event.

In addition, the documentary Witness to a Massacre-Nanjing 1937 was screened in the Audio-Visual Area of the Historical Materials Exhibit Hall. Education specialists provided on-site commentary, guiding visitors to better understand history and safeguard peace.
